Feel the love at the Rock Her World book launch and have the chance to win a stunning $20,000 engagement ring.

So, just how do you design the perfect engagement ring?

That’s the question Brisbane based master jeweller and gemmologist Karl Schwantes has answered with his new book, Rock Her World, which explores the process involved in creating the perfect engagement ring and how to manage this unique investment.

Rock Her World is set to be introduced to the world via a diamond breakfast book launch, at Aria Restaurant, Eagle Street Pier. In a fitting romantic nod, the book launch will take place on Valentines Day, Saturday 14 February from 7am to 9am.

To celebrate the publication, Karl will give one lucky couple a hand crafted “brightest cut” diamond engagement ring certified with an official valuation of $20,000.The ring giveaway will take place at the book launch. In the lead up to this event couples will be invited to submit a written appraisal (via www.rockherworld.com.au) outlining why they should be the deserving winners of this $20,000 ring.

Well known Brisbane identity Stefan will attend the launch event and a percentage of the proceeds from the launch will go to his charity, the MASKS Foundation (Make A Sick Kid Smile). In addition to the $20,000 engagement ring prize, other couples attending the launch will be given diamond vouchers and complimentary gifts.

Around 60 short listed couples will be invited to attend the launch after registering through the website.

Karl’s skill at creating magnificent pieces of jewellery was honed as a child playing at the work benches in his parents’ business — Xennox Diamonds. As an earnest eight year old, he helped out at the Brisbane store sweeping floors and making coffee, observing the craftsman at work, guided by his father. By the time he was 12, he was creating and designing pieces of his own. Little wonder diamonds are his passion and always on his mind.

Karl was compelled to write the book because of the sheer number of people coming to him after making poor ring purchasing decisions — he says he finds himself constantly fixing badly designed rings. The book explores engagement ring traditions and focuses on the difference between massed produced and personalised designs. It also covers the pitfalls of online purchases and how to decide on a design and match it to a personality.
