Looking for a way to kick-start your Christmas spirit? This community Christmas event will have you singing carols in no time.

Christmas is in the air and it’s time to race down to Racecourse Road to start celebrating.

The Racecourse Road Community Christmas will be held on Friday 28 November from 5pm to 9pm.

Take a stroll up Racecourse Road and enjoy roving entertainment, BrisStyle Markets and carols by candlelight at St Augustine’s Church with Ascot State School. Entertainment by St Margaret’s Senior Choir will start the festivities at 5pm along with free children’s activities, face painting and a sausage sizzle.

Racecourse Road Business Group spokesperson Bev Sotiriou said the event is all about community engagement.

“This is our fifth year of working with St Augustine’s Carols,” she says. “So it’s been lovely to watch it evolve over the years to include Santa at Suncorp, late night shopping and entertainment on the road.

“I especially love to see the Wearable Art Creations made each year by St Margarets year 6 Visual Art students, as they parade around the grounds and along the road.”

You can also bring along a present for those less fortunate than ourselves and support women and children from the community groups associated with St Augustines. Santa’s Sleigh will be stationed at St Augustine’s people who would like to donate gifts.
