Foo Fighters, one of the biggest bands in the world, have announced a Brisbane stadium show.

The Dave Grohl-fronted outfit has announced the tour just days before the release of their latest album, Sonic Highways, and in the same week that the Sonic Highways documentary series, chronicling the recording of the album at eight famous studios across the US, began airing in Australia.

Something From Nothing, the first single from the album, was released last week.

The album and documentary come together to form one cohesive, incredibly ambitious project — Grohl interviewed important musical figures in each of the cities that the band recorded in, and actually used quotes from those conversations in the lyrics of the record.

This will be the band’s first run of Australian shows since December 2011. They’ll be supported by Chicago punk rock trailblazers Rise Against and Melbourne rockers The Delta Riggs.

Foo Fighters will play Suncorp Stadium on Tuesday February 24. Pre-sale tickets will go on sale to Frontier Members for 24 hours from 10am AEDT Tuesday 11 November (or until the pre-sale allocation is exhausted); tickets will go on sale to the general public from Thursday 13 November at 10am local time.
