Goodna are once again hosting The Jacaranda Festival, their local community event which features market and food stalls, rides, games, a talent quest, a Dunk for Donations and lots more on October 24-26.
Run by a small band of volunteers, the Goodna Jacaranda Festival’s mission is that the community will be supported and the work of some great groups can be acknowledged and helped.
By providing a great weekend of entertainment that produces real benefits for the wider community, everyone wins. This year the Festival team are supporting local sporting groups, the SES and St John’s Ambulance. They’ve also given a great bunch of young people a chance to experience professional performance and pursue their careers. Even in their bar, young people have been given a chance to gain valuable experience.
One of the highlights of the festival (other than the delicious food, fun rides and market stalls) is the Dunk For Donations. The Dunk Tank will be set up in Sideshow Alley on the Saturday and Sunday of the festival and each community group will have a 30 minute time slot on either day, and will be able to gather donations from festival patrons. For each gold coin donation, the festival-goer will get a chance to dunk the ‘lucky’ representative of that community group.
So if you’re after some family-friendly fun that also supports a local community and raises money for worthy causes — while, at the same time, giving you a chance to revel in the misery of someone being dunked into a tank of cold water — then the Goodna Jacaranda Festival is the event for your very specific needs.
Oh, and if you’ve got a talent for dancing, singing, playing an instrument or making people laugh, this is your time to shine — entries are open now for the Goodna Jacaranda Festival Quest for Talent.
