The Scandinavian Festival is only one week away! Don’t miss out on this unique celebration for the whole family.

Head on down to Austin Street in Newstead this Sunday 14 September for the Scandinavian Festival.

This free event brings together the Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Sweden, Finland and Estonia communities to celebrate and share Scandinavia’s culture and history.

Over 10,000 people attended the festival last year and Soren Hoimark, President of the Scandinavian Festival, hopes that number will rise this year.

“Last year I wanted people to come and celebrate – they did and we had a ball. This year I want to share the festival with even more people and make the most of what Scandinavian Festival has to offer,” he said. “This year we are delighted to welcome a number of talented Brisbane-based Scandinavian entertainers throughout the day, including ABBALive to celebrate the 40th anniversary of ABBA, Danish Folkdance, Kupaleja and a Viking blacksmith at the Viking Village.”

As well as live music and performances there will be numerous stalls showcasing the best of Scandinavian food, fashion and culture.

There will also be plenty for kids to do as well, including a LEGO play area and story telling.
