Songbirds 3.5 Girl: Interrupted will see eight of Brisbane’s female vocal talents serve up a mix of Broadway hits at The Fox Hotel.

Songbirds’ offering to the 2014 Anywhere Theatre Festival, running from 9-10 May, is focused on memorable musical theatre moments, mixed with a bit of girly angst.

The group, led by Creative Director Alison McLennan and Musical Director Luke Volker, have recently run a series of sell out shows.

McLennan, also an Albany Creek resident, is excited that their latest show Girl: Interrupted will be performed at The Fox Hotel.

“Like the Anywhere Theatre Festival, The Songbirds’ shows are paring theatre back to the bare bones,” says McLennan.

“The power of theatre lies in the connection with the audience and I love the concept of bringing together a story and a space that challenges the audience to think differently about the traditional musical.”

Songsbirds are set to perform in an intimate cabaret setting with a piano and a couple of microphones, providing patrons with an up close and personal theatre experience.

Girl: Interrupted blends solos, duets and group songs from musicals such as Grease, The Little Mermaid and South Pacific.
