Naughty Vivien Leigh scandal shocks off stage and on

There is still time to catch naughty, wicked comedy, Vivien Leigh’s School for Scandal, at the elegant Trinity Church Hall, Church St Fortitude Valley until Saturday 26 October at 7.30pm. In very Hollywood Gone with the Wind style, heartBeast fuses the story of Vivien Leigh (Karen Disdale) and the fable world of the 1770 School for Scandal production.

Vivien Leigh plays Lady Teazal in all lights of sex, sarcasm and salacious gossip. Off stage, beautiful Vivien struggles with the reality of touring Australia with the Old Vic Theatre Company. Vivien was rumoured to have a different dalliance in every port and Brisbane was no different. This production joins the real scandal happening off stage with the one that was being enacted on it.

There are three more chances to catch this powerful, dream-like production by heartBeast, filled with exuberant luxury, lavish costumes and stupendous wigs.

Derived from Commedia dell’Arte, Vakhtangov’s Fantastic Realism and The Seven Deadly Sins, it is Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s post-restoration comic masterpiece.

“Performed in the round, it enmeshes heightened moments of love, passion, grief, anger, despair, sorrow, fear, happiness, grace and elation through memories, organic impulses and stylised storytelling,’’ says director Adrienne Costello..

Cast includes George Arkinstall, Tara Barraza, David Bentley, Brian Bolton, Samantha Cable, Warwick Comber, Adrienne Costello, Karen Dinsdale, Patrick Dwyer, Andrew Lowe,

Hamish Nicholson, Sherri Smith, and Greg Stone and Joe Tiernan.
