Anywhere Theatre Festival is a Brisbane success story; last year pulling in 95,000 people to 473 performances in 63 locations.

This year the festival goes Queensland-wide with performances in Mount Isa, Cairns, Hervey Bay, Ipswich, Gold Coast, Toowooomba, Mackay, Sunshine Coast – and, of course, Brisbane.

This means the 2017 festival will be the most geographically spread open-access festival in the world, proving that big ideas can grow from small beginnings.

The festival is named after its premise: to perform theatre, anywhere but a theatre, or to exhibit art, anywhere but a gallery.

This cuts costly venue fees, and attracts the curious — to concerts in a laundromat, magic in a game store, comedy in a sausage factory, murder on a paddlewheeler, and even hypnotism in a sex-shop.

We invite you to 2017 Anywhere Theatre Festival, proudly presented in association with Arts Queensland.
