There’s nothing better than a new op shop opening up. Am I right or am I right?! If you’re looking for a fresh ‘thrifting-hole’ then check out these five brand new op shops on Brisbane’s block!
Vinnies Mary Street
Address: 73 Mary Street, Brisbane City
Trading hours: 9:30am-5:30pm Monday-Friday and 9am-5pm Saturday
Vinnies Mary Street only opened at the beginning of November, and has already become a slow fashion mecca in the middle of the city.
Catering to everyone from university students to business people, the store stocks plenty of party wear, evening attire, corporate and bridal wear, a large collection of jewellery and accessories, as well as a selection of brand new kid’s clothes.
This Vinnies has all the trimmings of a beautiful boutique from soft lighting, stylish visual merchandise to luxurious change rooms, without the killer price tag attached. Garments range in price from just $4 up to $80.
If you’re into C/meo Collective, Witchery, ASOS, sass & bide, Sheike, By Johnny, Cue, Forever New or Lisa Ho, be sure to pop in and peruse!
Salvos Hope Op Shop
Address: 2/7 Anthony Street, West End
Trading hours: 9am-4pm Monday-Friday and 9am-1pm Saturday
West End must be the new ‘It’-thrifting destination as two op shops have opened their doors there in the last two months! Salvos Hope Opshop just had their grand opening last weekend and this two-level secondhand haven did not disappoint.
On the ground level you’ll find a large range of vintage garments, designer shoes like these DKNY heels going for $10, furniture and household items. Then take the ‘stairway to heaven’ to Level 1 and you’ll find a truckload of Zara, Cue, Tokito, Witchery, Bassike, Forever New, sass & bide, Country Road, Seed and Review, as well as a wide range of childrens and menswear.
Most garments go for around the $5-$10 mark, so you can definitely get the look for a lot less. Five words…thank God for the Salvos!
Yesterday’s Thrift Shop West End
Address: 235 Boundary Street, Brisbane
Trading hours: 9:30am-5pm Monday-Saturday and 10am-4pm Sunday
If you’re already Team Yesterday’s Thrift after visiting their Rosalie and Paddington stores, you’ll want to pop into their newest addition to the thrifting family in West End!
This new store has a $2 bargain rack, and a two-week half price deal, so once garments have been out on the floor for 14 days or more they’ll knock 50% off! Did we mention on Sunday’s you can raid their $2 rack and fill a bag for $5?!
All the big names call this store home from Sacha Drake, Alexander McQueen, Seduce, Sheike, Oroton, sass & bide, Witchery, Country Road, to Cue, Zara, Calvin Klein and Jag and prices generally range between $5-$9, so get down there and pop some tags!
Oh, and you can bring your pooch too as it’s a pet friendly store, and they even provide a water bowl out front.
RSPCA Stones Corner
Address: 313 Logan Rd, Greenslopes
Trading hours: 9am-4pm Monday – Saturday
You can’t miss this new op shop…it takes up some serious real estate on the corner of Logan Road in Stones Corner, so give yourself at least half an hour to give it a thorough going over!
This RSPCA stocks a selection of vintage, everyday wear and high end garments, so there’s something for everyone, especially the label lovers with brands such as Country Road, Witchery, George, Ladakh, Wish, Gorman, Review, Seduce, Cue and Zara on offer.
Everything’s well laid out, from the spacious shoe wall at the rear of the store, to the colour blocked garments so you can hone in on your hue, making for a streamlined shopping experience.
Most garments go for between $3-$10, bags and shoes start at $4, scarves are $3 a pop and there’s a $1 rack out front…what are you waiting for?!
Ps there’s free parking via Cleveland Road.
Be Uplifted Aspley
Address: Shop 5, 611 Robinson Road, Aspley
Trading hours: 9am-4pm Wednesday-Friday and 9am-2pm Saturday
You’ll definitely feel uplifted after visiting this new thrift store. It opened in October with the sole purpose of raising funds to provide ongoing support for those on the breast cancer journey, so you can feel pretty good knowing your retail therapy is making a difference in someone’s life!
All garments are $5 unless marked, and with plenty of labels to choose such as Sportsgirl, Tokito, Saba, Review, Cue, Bardot, Giordano and Zara, you won’t go home empty handed! They stock a fair few pieces that are brand new with tags, including this The Fifth Label top that was going for $30! Can I get a witness?!
