Queensland dynamo Rhianna Buchanan will make her debut when the Monster Jam tour revs into Brisbane.

The high-octane Monster Jam tour will return to Australia in October, with Brisbane set to host the first leg.

After months of training and testing, local stuntwoman Rhianna Buchanan has been selected to join the exclusive roster of Monster Jam drivers.

Buchanan, who impressed the Monster Jam promoters with her fearless attitude and need for speed, will get behind the wheel of a custom-designed truck standing nearly four metres tall and four metres wide, weighing around 5,500 kilograms.

Built for short, high-powered bursts of speed, the Monster Jam trucks can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in under three seconds, and are capable of covering up to 50 metres in a single leap — a distance greater than 14 cars placed side by side.

Buchanan will be joined by US Monster Jam mainstays Adam Anderson, driving the Grave Digger, and two-time Monster Jam World Finals champion Todd LeDuc, in the crowd-favourite Monster Energy truck.

The show will feature the usual Monster Jam driver competitions, including Monster Jam Racing and the freestyle competitions, and for the first time, Australia will play host to a unique ‘Race of Champions’ competition on the Monster Jam dirt track.

Monster Jam will come to the Queensland Sports and Athletics Centre (Kessels Road, Nathan) from 6pm on Saturday 7 October. The show will be preceded by the Party in the Pits, running from 1pm, giving fans a chance to see the Monster Jam trucks up close and meet their favourite drivers.
