Brisbane’s longest operating florist will help floral lovers learn to express their creativity this month, as they launch their new six week floristry courses.

Known for its timeless floral creations and signature styling, Brisbane’s Perrotts Florist has been operating for 106 years. Wanting to share their extension knowledge and love of floristry the company has now decided to offer three different floristry courses, starting from this month.

Perrotts Florists Owner and Creative Director, Brian Sweeney says the new courses are designed with fun and creative expression as the focus and will replace the previous 18 week course run by the company.

“The creation of our short courses is an exciting reflection of fitting in with lifestyle changes, of people having less time and commitment to their hobbies and to allow the students to get a taste of working with flowers for six weeks first to see if it is something they really enjoy,” he says.

“Whilst our courses are not accredited they are taught by certified teachers and professionals who have worked in floristry for more than 20 years, so our students will learn plenty about flowers, get great insight into the industry and find out insider floral tips and tricks that work every time.”

The courses will cater, not only to flower lovers, but aspiring florists and wedding planners too.

The first course is a six week Introduction to Floristry Course for students to learn the essentials of working with flowers and how to present bouquets and vase flowers. A great way to just ‘test out’ floristry if you feel like you may be needed a bit of a creative career change down the track!

The second is a Flower Trends and Styles Course for those who love to be creative and relax by styling flowers. In this course, participants will learn advanced flower styling techniques and trends such as flower crowns, modern floral centrepieces, styling flowers with jars, the Perrotts’ signature hat boxes and more.

The third is the Wedding Flowers Course for those who event plan, love weddings or want to create flowers for their own wedding. In the course participants will learn advanced wedding flower creations with a modern edge including buttonholes, wedding bouquets, pew flowers, altar flowers, wedding centrepieces and more. It’ll save you a lot of money on the wedding day, that’s for sure!

The courses start from $695 and are held at the Perrotts Florists head office in Herston, Brisbane.
