You’ll have a chance to journey into the world of acclaimed British animation studio Aardman when this massive new exhibition comes to Oz.
Melbourne’s Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) will host Wallace & Gromit and friends: The magic of Aardman, featuring over 350 objects from the studio behind Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep and Chicken Run.
You’ll be able to wander among Wallace’s cracking contraptions, along with over 50 authentic film sets, including Gromit’s vegetable garden, city streets from Shaun the Sheep the Movie, the flying machine from Chicken Run and the five-metre-tall ship from The Pirates! Band of Misfits.
Hand crafted plasticine models, concept drawings, character studies, storyboards and production designs will all be on show, including never-before-seen treasures like the first ever drawings of Wallace & Gromit and the rocket from A Grand Day Out.
There’ll be special trails and activities and displays for kids, and extracts on show from Aardman’s 60 shorts and features, as well as the studio’s creative advertisements and music videos.
Created by French museum Art Ludique in close collaboration with Aardman, Wallace & Gromit and friends: The magic of Aardman will be on display at Melbourne’s ACMI from 29 June 2017 to 29 October 2017. For more information and tickets, visit acmi.net.au.
