Obsessive Star Wars fans and fathers with death wishes are naming their children ‘Kylo’ in record numbers.

The US Social Security Administration has released its list of the most popular baby names of 2016, including data on the names that increased the most in popularity from 2015 to 2016.

Topping the list of boys names that increased in popularity is ‘Kylo’, which rose a massive 2,368 spots on the list of America’s most popular baby names for boys, all the way from 3,269 in 2015 to 901 in 2016.

To put that leap in perspective, the second fastest rising name for boys rose ‘just’ 370 spots.

The name’s huge bump in popularity has to be attributed to Kylo Ren, the villain played by Adam Driver in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the box office blockbuster released in December 2015.

We don’t like to spoil movies here, but seeing as how Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been out for 17 months and everyone in the world who wants to see it has already done so (at least twice), we figure it’s safe in this case.

So, with that in mind — what are you thinking, dads?

There are precisely three things Kylo Ren is known for — his cool crossguard lightsaber, his lustrous locks, and the fact that he killed his father, Han Solo.

Seriously, you might want to think twice about this one.

This is like ancient Greek statisticians noticing a sharp spike in the name ‘Oedipus’ after the release of Sophocles’ play.

Another 2015 film, Creed, also had a clear impact on the rankings, with ‘Creed’ coming in as the second fastest rising boys’ name, and ‘Adonis’ the fourth.

For girls, ‘Kehlani’ was the fastest rising name, jumping 2,487 spots (from 3,359 to 872) on the back of the emergence of young American R&B performer Kehlani.
