Beenleigh’s Early Bird Markets are getting a new name and a new time slot.

Formerly held on Sundays, the Beenleigh Early Bird Markets will begin trading on Wednesdays from next week as the Beenleigh Town Square Markets.

The new markets will retain the same selection of arts, craft and produce, but will also feature rotating food trucks and an improved food offering for lunchtime visitors.

The Early Bird Markets opened in June last year. Market coordinator Mark Power says the move to midweek is largely due to popular public demand to activate the Beenleigh Town Square space, with its central location to local businesses, during the week.

“There are a huge number of people who use the town square during the week and it’s a great space to stop, have a break, some lunch and a coffee,” he says.

Power says the new market format will be similar to the midweek markets held in the Brisbane CBD every Wednesday.

“We’re very excited by the potential of Beenleigh and the feedback for a midweek market from residents and businesses shows just how much the town is growing and is looking for new activities and events,” he says.

The Beenleigh Town Square Markets will be open on Wednesday 24 May (and every Wednesday after that) from 8am to 2pm. Entry is free and free parking is available in nearby streets.
