At last, our love has come along. Our lonely days are over and life is like a song. Gelato Messina is coming to Brisbane.

Since their first store opened in Darlinghurst in 2002, Gelato Messina has set the benchmark for gelato in Australia. But until now, outside of the occasional Brisbane pop-up, the only way we could get that sweet, sweet Messina goodness was to make a trip down to their Coolangatta store, which opened in 2014.

Well, no more! Gelato Messina’s first Brisbane store is officially set to open in South Bank this year, and it’s going to be massive.

We mean that quite literally — the Melbourne Street store is going to be Messina’s largest in the country, clocking in at 200 square metres.

If you think that sounds like too much space to make a few scoops of macadamia crunch and a blood orange sorbet, you’re right — the space won’t just be used to sell products; it’ll also be used to host Gelato Messina’s famous hands-on ice cream making classes!

Seriously, there’s excited, and then there’s us right now.

That’s the good news. The bad news is that the store won’t actually open until October. But seriously, guys, come on — after we’ve waited 14 years, what’s another nine months?

So come on, October. We’ll be waiting for you.

Gelato Messina will be based at 109 Melbourne Street, South Brisbane. For more information, visit gelatomessina.com.
